I am from Chicago - about 7 years go we decided to buy a vacation home in the mountains near some friends - areas we were focusing on were Cashiers and Highlands, NC. On our first trip we walked into a real estate company in Cashiers NC and Jim Hair greeted us and set up appointments and a schedule for us. After 2 days we had to go back to Chicago but had found two houses in particular that we were interested in (but one was out of our price range). We subsequently put in an offer for the house but the seller would not move at all on the price and thus we decided to hold off buying and look around more. Jim kept us informed on other properties and sent us similar properties that fit the type and price range that we wanted - that is extremely important to us as buyers as we do not want to waste time looking at houses that we would never buy. About a month later we were travelling in Europe and Jim called notifying us that the house that was "out of our price range" was something we should consider. It was a foreclosed property owned by Regent's bank who was trying to reduce their year end inventory and would possibly entertain lower offers that would then fall within our original price range. We had not seen the house so Jim sent numerous pictures and information - assuring us that if we liked the first house, we would absolutely love this one (overall much better house/value/appreciation potential, etc.). We put in an offer from France via fax and Jim submitted, negotiated, properly handled the counter and we came to terms with the bank and signed the contract. Since we had not seen the property, Jim put in a stipulation that we had 10 days to review and if after inspection we did not want the property we could still receive our deposit back and void the contract. We flew back to the states, went and saw the property and closed shortly thereafter - the house was all that Jim had described and we are very appreciative of the way he handled everything from start to finish. I should add that we have now owned the house for the last 6 years and it has greatly appreciated in value - but it has turned into a wonderful family vacation home that we will keep in the family for many years to come. I have told Jim many times how much we appreciated all his steady and efficient handling of our home purchase in Cashiers. I would highly recommend him to others.

Jim is a great Realtor, going out of his way before, during and even after the sale. He helped us find our dream second home in the beautiful Carolina mountains. No pressure. Jim currently has our property listed for sale. He has made himself very knowledgeable about all aspects of the property and has put together a marketing plan that includes numerous photos as well as view photography obtained using a drone. This is particularly important because the views are spectacular but require some clearing to access and the many unique aspects of the property are much more easily appreciated from an aerial perspective. He personally accompanies all showings, setting the stage by turning on lights in the farmhouse as well as having the barn and outbuildings open and available. Jim is extremely personable and knowledgeable about the Cashiers/Highlands area and we would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to list or purchase property in the mountains.
